Cardiff University drug acquired by Bristol-Myers Squibb
American pharmaceutical giant Bristol-Myers Squibb has agreed the purchase of US biotech company Inhibitex, in a $2.5Bn (£1.6bn) deal which includes the promising new anti-hepatitis C drug INX-189, first designed and prepared in Cardiff University. The buy-out means Bristol-Myers will continue the development of INX-189, a Hepatitis C drug first created by Professor Chris McGuigan at the Welsh School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Capital Cardiff Conference attracts keynote speaker from Microsoft
Budding entrepreneurs and established and growing businesses are being invited to attend a free event aimed at fostering business growth, sharing ideas and providing investment and funding opportunities. Super-fast broadband's further roll-out in Cardiff
Nearly 175,000 homes and businesses in Wales are poised to benefit from super-fast broadband as part of a major expansion of BT’s roll-out plans. Abergavenny, Bargoed, Briton Ferry, Caerleon, Llandaff, Mold, Morriston, Newbridge, Newport, Pontypool, Pontypridd, Prestatyn, Roath (Cardiff), Sketty, Tonypandy and Wrexham are the latest places included in the company’s £2.5 billion roll-out of fibre broadband. It will take the number of homes and businesses being passed by the new super-fast network in Wales to 475,000.
