The history of Admiral Group is one of growth, profitability and innovation. Admiral launched in Cardiff in 1993 with just one brand, zero customers and 57 members of staff. Almost a quarter of a century later it’s now a highly profitable £5.5 billion FTSE 100 business with over 5 million customers. It has over 6,000 staff in its South Wales offices (Cardiff, Swansea and Newport) and a further 3,000 at its brands and offices around the world. From its headquarters in Cardiff the Group supports insurance operations in Italy, Spain, France and the US, and price comparison sites in Spain, France and the US. Although much younger than the core UK business, which includes motor and home insurance under brands such as Admiral, Elephant, Diamond and comparison through Confused.com, they are establishing themselves as well known brands and successfully growing businesses.
