Willmott Dixon – Proud to be helping in the fight against COVID-19
Our team and supply chain partners in Cardiff have worked tirelessly to convert two hospital rooms into overflow wards to help tackle Covid-19. The projects were completed within 3 weeks of starting. Given the standing start, we would like to thank our supply chain and design partners for their support develop the schemes. It is an incredible achievement by everyone involved to be able to both support the NHS in these testing times.
At the University Hospital Wales (Heath), we have converted an existing physiotherapy department room to provide 35 ICU beds, split between a 15 bed ward, two 9 bed wards and two single occupancy rooms. Each bed will be provided with medical gases, and wards are formed with new partitions and flooring.
At University Hospital Llandough, the conversion created 16 beds and en-suites, split between 4 bays. Each bay includes a full fit out from shell including M&E infrastructure, medical gases, new partitions, showers, toilets, doors, and flooring.
Further to these developments, our team and its supply chain partners working at University Hospital Llandough had a whip-round, raising an impressive £544. This has been used to purchase toothbrushes, pyjamas and socks to sweets, chocolate, drinks and biscuits. Coupled with some Willmott Dixon stationery, water bottles and other accessories, the items were delivered to the NHS staff in the ICU, stroke and two dementia wards at University Hospital Llandough – to great approval!
