Cardiff hosted eight Rugby World Cup matches and all eyes were on the city throughout September and October 2015.
There was over half a million tickets sold for matches at the Millennium Stadium and rugby fans from across the world have confirmed the capital’s status as the host city with the most.
Cardiff’s Fan Zone in the Cardiff Arms Park welcomed more than 128,000 fans who watched all the excitement of the pool and quarter final games. Cardiff was the only host city to have it’s designated fanzone neighbouring the stadium where the matches took place.
Most successful of all was the amazing “ball in the wall” feature which has delighted people from all over the world. Designed by a local Cardiff company, the rugby ball attracted huge attention and the hashtag #BallnWalI even overtook the official #RWC2015 hashtag as a trending topic on Twitter!
