Cardiff wins prestigious City of the Year Award

Cardiff has been crowned City of the Year and the annual EG Awards, 2023.

The awards celebrate the very best things about the real estate sector: the very best deals, the very best developments, the best businesses, the greatest places to work, the upcoming talent, the game changers, the inspirations, in short, this is an event celebrating the good that real estate does.

Applications for the awards were put forward for judging in a range of categories, including: Public/Private Partnerships, Rising Star, Sustainability, Social Impact, Regional Deal, Best Workspace, plus many more!

And it was Invest in Cardiff that came out with an award for the “City of the Year”. Competing against Birmingham City Council and Marketing Derby, Cardiff was crowned the winner.

The award was recognised for Cardiff’s vision for the city and the commitment to expanding our Council house building programme, an innovative approach that is the largest council housing build programme in Wales and continues to deliver new homes that also support the council achieve to its decarbonisation objectives.

The judges came to the conclusion that as a city, Cardiff has gone the extra mile in embracing its greener vision by supplying more affordable and sustainable housing for its citizens.

Since receiving the award, Councillor Huw Thomas, Leader of Cardiff Council said: “I am delighted that Cardiff has awarded the EG Awards as City of the Year. This award recognised the work that Cardiff Council has done in delivering the largest council house building programme in Wales. Our programme is delivering high quality and energy efficient homes that are affordable to run for our tenants whilst also supporting our city’s decarbonisation ambition. This work has been recognised by the EG Awards judges who praised our city for going the extra mile in embracing its ‘greener vision by supplying more affordable and sustainable housing for its citizens’”
